The Chinese authorities ordered this Saturday the closure of five other cities for the #coronavirus; rises to 18 blocked cities
The Chinese government restricted travel in 18 cities in the central province of Hubei, in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus that originated in the city of Wuhan, and has caused the deaths of 41 people and 1,287 confirmed cases of contagion.
The Chinese authorities ordered this Saturday the closure of five other cities for the coronavirus, raising the blocked cities to 18, thereby limiting the movement of a total of 56 million people.
With this measure, the departure of airplanes and trains to other places is suspended. Bus, underground train and other public transport services are also interrupted.
According to the National Health Commission of China, 39 people died in the central province of Hubei, one in the northern province of Hebei and another in the province of Heilongjiang, in the northeast of the country.
During 24 hours on Friday, 444 new confirmed cases and 1,118 new suspected cases were reported, while 16 people died from the disease.
The outbreak spread to Qinghai Province, bringing the number of affected regions at the provincial level to 30, according to the commission.
A total of 15,197 close contacts have been tracked, the commission said, adding that among them, 13,967 are under medical observation, while 1,230 others have been discharged.
